NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Aquaporins are a family of small integral membrane proteins related to the major intrinsic protein (MIP or AQP0). This gene encodes an aquaporin which functions as a molecular water channel protein. It is a homotetramer with 6 bilayer spanning domains and N-glycosylation sites. The protein physically resembles channel proteins and is abundant in erythrocytes and renal tubes. The gene encoding this aquaporin is a possible candidate for disorders involving imbalance in ocular fluid movement. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]
Uniprot Description
AQP1: Forms a water-specific channel that provides the plasma membranes of red cells and kidney proximal tubules with high permeability to water, thereby permitting water to move in the direction of an osmotic gradient. Belongs to the MIP/aquaporin (TC 1.A.8) family.

Product Notes
The AQP1 aqp1 (Catalog #AAA540989) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Aquaporin 1 Antibody BIOTIN-Conjugated reacts with Bovine, Human, Mouse, Rat, Sheep and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Aquaporin 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). ELISA: 1:10,000 Immunocytochemistry: 1:100 Immunofluorescence: 1:100 Immunohistochemistry: 1:100 Immunoprecipitation: 1:200 Western Blot: 1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AQP1 aqp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aquaporin 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
