Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Programmed cell death 6-interacting protein(PDCD6IP) detection. Tested with WB in Human;Mouse;Rat.

Background: Programmed cell death 6-interacting protein is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PDCD6IP gene. This gene encodes a protein that functions within the ESCRT pathway in the abscission stage of cytokinesis, in intralumenal endosomal vesicle formation, and in enveloped virus budding. Studies using mouse cells have shown that overexpression of this protein can block apoptosis. In addition, the product of this gene binds to the product of the PDCD6 gene, a protein required for apoptosis, in a calcium-dependent manner. This gene product also binds to endophilins, proteins that regulate membrane shape during endocytosis. Overexpression of this gene product and endophilins results in cytoplasmic vacuolization, which may be partly responsible for the protection against cell death. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Uniprot Description

Alix: an adaptor protein that may regulate the function of receptor and cytoskeleton-associated tyrosine kinases. A class E vacuolar protein sorting (VPS) factor involved in concentration and sorting of cargo proteins of the multivesicular body (MVB) for incorporation into intralumenal vesicles. Fusion between endosomes and the vacuole will then target the cargo proteins to the vacuolar lumen. In case of infection, the HIV-1 virus directly takes advantage of its function for viral exocytosis and budding, via its interaction with HIV-1 p6 protein. May play a role in the regulation of both apoptosis and cell proliferation.

Protein type: Adaptor/scaffold; Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p22.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol; focal adhesion; immunological synapse; melanosome; membrane; microtubule organizing center; myelin sheath

Product Notes

The ALIX pdcd6ip (Catalog #AAA177934) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-ALIX Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ALIX can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot Concentration: 0.1-0.5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ALIX pdcd6ip for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ALIX, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
