Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for ANP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any ANP present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ANP is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ANP bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the natriuretic peptide family. Natriuretic peptides are implicated in the control of extracellular fluid volume and electrolyte homeostasis. This protein is synthesized as a large precursor (containing a signal peptide), which is processed to release a peptide from the N-terminus with similarity to vasoactive peptide, cardiodilatin, and another peptide from the C-terminus with natriuretic-diuretic activity. Mutations in this gene have been associated with atrial fibrillation familial type 6. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Uniprot Description

Function: Hormone playing a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis through regulation of natriuresis, diuresis, and vasodilation. Also plays a role in female pregnancy by promoting trophoblast invasion and spiral artery remodeling in uterus. Specifically binds and stimulates the cGMP production of the NPR1 receptor. Binds the clearance receptor NPR3.1 PublicationManual assertion based on experiment in:Ref.15

Product Notes

The Human NPPA nppa (Catalog #AAA701832) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA701832 ELISA Kit recognizes Human NPPA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "natriuretic peptide precursor A, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
