Related Product Information for NCF-2 / NCF2 / P67phox recombinant protein
Background: NCF2, also known as NCF-2 and p67phox, is a subunit of the multi-protein NADPH oxidase complex. NCF2, NCF1, and a membrane bound cytochrome b558 are required for activation of the latent NADPH oxidase. This oxidase produces a burst of superoxide which is delivered to the lumen of the neutrophil phagosome. Mutations in NCF2 gene, as well as in other NADPH oxidase subunits, can result in chronic granulomatous disease, a disease that causes recurrent infections by catalase-positive organisms.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human NCF2 (AAH01606.1) (Met1-Val526) was fused with the N-terminal polyhistidine-tagged GST tag at the N-terminus.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes neutrophil cytosolic factor 2, the 67-kilodalton cytosolic subunit of the multi-protein NADPH oxidase complex found in neutrophils. This oxidase produces a burst of superoxide which is delivered to the lumen of the neutrophil phagosome. Mutations in this gene, as well as in other NADPH oxidase subunits, can result in chronic granulomatous disease, a disease that causes recurrent infections by catalase-positive organisms. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]

Uniprot Description

p67phox: NCF2, NCF1, and a membrane bound cytochrome b558 are required for activation of the latent NADPH oxidase (necessary for superoxide production). Interacts with SYTL1 and RAC1. Interacts with NCF4. May interact with NOXO1. Belongs to the NCF2/NOXA1 family.

Product Notes

The NCF-2 / NCF2 / P67phox ncf2 (Catalog #AAA2545220) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Baculovirus-Insect Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human NCF2 /GST chimera consists of 763 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 87.6 kDa. The recombinant protein migrates as an approximately 80-90 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NCF-2 / NCF2 / P67phox ncf2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NCF-2 / NCF2 / P67phox, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
