Mouse Deiodinase, Iodothyronine, Type III (DIO3) ELISA Kit
For opened kits: Once the kit is opened, the remaining reagents still need to be stored according to the above storage conditions. In addition, return the unused wells to the foil pouch containing the desiccant pack and reseal along entire edge of zip-seal.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This is an intronless, imprinted gene that is preferentially expressed from the paternal allele in the mouse fetus. The encoded protein belongs to the iodothyronine deiodinase family, and catalyzes the inactivation of thyroid hormone by inner ring deiodination of the prohormone thyroxine (T4) and the bioactive hormone 3,3',5-triiodothyronine (T3) to inactive metabolites, 3,3',5' triiodothyronine (RT3) and 3,3'-diiodothyronine (T2), respectively. It is highly expressed in placenta, fetal and neonatal tissues, and thought to prevent premature exposure of developing fetal tissues to adult levels of thyroid hormones. It thus plays a critical role in mammalian development by regulating circulating fetal thyroid hormone concentration. Knockout mice lacking this gene exhibit severe abnormalities related to development and reproduction. This protein is a selenoprotein, containing the rare selenocysteine (Sec) amino acid at its active site. Sec is encoded by the UGA codon, which normally signals translation termination. The 3' UTRs of selenoprotein mRNAs contain a conserved stem-loop structure, designated the Sec insertion sequence (SECIS) element, that is necessary for the recognition of UGA as a Sec codon rather than as a stop signal. Uniprot Description
Responsible for the deiodination of T4 (3,5,3',5'-tetraiodothyronine) into RT3 (3,3',5'-triiodothyronine) and of T3 (3,5,3'-triiodothyronine) into T2 (3,3'-diiodothyronine). RT3 and T2 are inactive metabolites. May play a role in preventing premature exposure of developing fetal tissues to adult levels of thyroid hormones. Can regulate circulating fetal thyroid hormone concentrations throughout gestation. Essential role for regulation of thyroid hormone inactivation during embryological development.

Product Notes
The Mouse DIO3 dio3 (Catalog #AAA458859) is a RTU ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA458859 RTU ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse DIO3. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Deiodinase, Iodothyronine, Type III (DIO3), RTU ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
