Principle of the Assay: Mouse IL-10 ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate Mouse IL-10 in samples. An antibody specific for Mouse IL-10 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any Mouse IL-10 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for Mouse IL-10 is added to the wells. After washing, proprietary Streptavidin-HRP conjugates is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound streptavidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse IL-10 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped by Stop Solution and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background/Introduction: Interleukin-10 is a small protein known as a cytokine that functions as an important regulator of the immune system. IL-10 is known to have many roles in the immune system, its two major activities include inhibition of cytokine production by macrophages and inhibition of the accessory functions of macrophages during T cell activation.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an anti-inflammatory cytokine that is a member of the class-2 cytokine family. The encoded protein is secreted by cells of both the innate and adaptive immune systems and is crucial for limiting the immune response to a broad range of pathogens. It also has been shown to suppress autoimmune responses. This protein mediates it's immunosuppressive signal through a specific interleukin 10 receptor complex. Aberrant functioning of this gene is associated with numerous immune disorders including graft-versus-host disease, and increased susceptibility to HIV-1 infection and rheumatoid arthritis. Product Notes

The Mouse IL-10 il10 (Catalog #AAA9711583) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9711583 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse IL-10. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-10, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
