NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes one of six different actin proteins. Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in cell motility, structure, integrity, and intercellular signaling. The encoded protein is a major constituent of the contractile apparatus and one of the two nonmuscle cytoskeletal actins that are ubiquitously expressed. Mutations in this gene cause Baraitser-Winter syndrome 1, which is characterized by intellectual disability with a distinctive facial appearance in human patients. Numerous pseudogenes of this gene have been identified throughout the human genome. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]
Uniprot Description
Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility and are ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells.MiscellaneousIn vertebrates 3 main groups of actin isoforms, alpha, beta and gamma have been identified. The alpha actins are found in muscle tissues and are a major constituent of the contractile apparatus. The beta and gamma actins coexist in most cell types as components of the cytoskeleton and as mediators of internal cell motility.CautionWas originally thought to be part of the MLL5-L complex, at least composed of KMT2E, STK38, PPP1CA, PPP1CB, PPP1CC, HCFC1, ACTB and OGT (PubMed:19377461). However, the corresponding article has been retracted (PubMed:24336203).

Product Notes
The ACTB actb (Catalog #AAA850843) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The beta-Actin Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Hamster, Rat, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's beta-Actin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IF: 1:200-1:1000 FC: 1:200-1:400 ELISA: 1:10000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ACTB actb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "beta-Actin, Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
