NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a coiled-coil-forming protein that associates with the SNARE (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive fusion protein attachment protein receptor) complex of proteins and the BLOC-1 (biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles) complex. Biochemical studies have identified additional binding partners. As part of the SNARE complex, it is required for vesicle docking and fusion and regulates neurotransmitter release. The BLOC-1 complex is required for the biogenesis of specialized organelles such as melanosomes and platelet dense granules. Mutations in gene products that form the BLOC-1 complex have been identified in mouse strains that are models of Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2012]
Uniprot Description
SNAPIN: a component of the SNARE complex of proteins that is required for synaptic vesicle docking and fusion. May modulate a step between vesicle priming, fusion and calcium-dependent neurotransmitter release by potentiating the interaction of synaptotagmins with the SNAREs and the plasma-membrane-associated protein SNAP25. Its phosphorylation state influences exocytotic protein interactions and may regulate synaptic vesicle exocytosis. May also have a role in the mechanisms of SNARE-mediated membrane fusion in non-neuronal cells. Phosphorylation by PKA modulates its interaction with the SNARE complex.

Product Notes
The SNAPAP snapin (Catalog #AAA6149796) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SNAPAP (SNARE-associated Protein Snapin, Biogenesis of Lysosome-related Organelles Complex 1 Subunit 7, BLOC-1 Subunit 7, Synaptosomal-associated Protein 25-binding Protein, SNAP-associated Protein, BLOC1S7, SNAP25BP, SNAPIN) (FITC) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SNAPAP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Western Blot (WB). IHC-P: 3ug/ml Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SNAPAP snapin for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SNAPAP, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
