Biological Significance
SEMA6C is a member of the semaphorin family of proteins. Semaphorins represent important molecular signals controlling multiple aspects of the cellular response that follows CNS injury, and thus may play an important role in neural regeneration.
Immunogen
SEMA6C antibody was raised in Mouse using recombinant protein Semaphorin-6C as the immunogen

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the semaphorin family. Semaphorins represent important molecular signals controlling multiple aspects of the cellular response that follows CNS injury, and thus may play an important role in neural regeneration. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

Uniprot Description

SEMA6C: a single-pass type I membrane protein that shows growth cone collapsing activity on dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons in vitro. May be a stop signal for the DRG neurons in their target areas, and possibly also for other neurons. May also be involved in the maintenance and remodeling of neuronal connections. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cell adhesion

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21.2

Cellular Component: plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: receptor activity; semaphorin receptor binding

Biological Process: axon guidance

Product Notes

The SEMA6C sema6c (Catalog #AAA838007) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's SEMA6C can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:1,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SEMA6C sema6c for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SEMA6C, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
