Immunoprecipitation (IP)
(PABP1 was immunoprecipitated from 1mg of THP1 cells membrane fraction, blotted with M25210 of 10 ug. Western blot was performed from the immunoprecipitate using M25210 at 1/1000 dilution. Anti-Mouse-IgG(HRP), specific to the non-reduced form of IgG, was used as secondary antibody at 1/10000 dilution. Lane 1: THP1 cells membrane fraction. Lane2: IP product of THP1 cells membrane fraction. Blocking and dilution buffer and concentration:5% milk/TBST.)

This gene encodes a poly(A) binding protein. The protein shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm and binds to the 3' poly(A) tail of eukaryotic messenger RNAs via RNA-recognition motifs. The binding of this protein to poly(A) promotes ribosome recruitment and translation initiation; it is also required for poly(A) shortening which is the first step in mRNA decay.
