Related Product Information for anti-MSTN antibody
Myostatin (MSTN) is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. This group of proteins is characterized by a polybasic proteolytic processing site which is cleaved to produce a mature protein containing seven conserved cysteine residues. The members of this family are regulators of cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and adult tissues. This gene is thought to encode a secreted protein which negatively regulates skeletal muscle growth.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

MSTN: Acts specifically as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth. Defects in MSTN are the cause of muscle hypertrophy (MSLHP). MSLHP is a condition characterized by increased muscle bulk and strength. Affected individuals are exceptionally strong. Belongs to the TGF-beta family.

Product Notes

The MSTN mstn (Catalog #AAA245904) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse Monoclonal [clone 6H12] (IgG1) to Human MSTN / GDF8 / Myostatin reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MSTN / GDF8 / Myostatin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). ELISA (1:10000), IHC-P (1:200), WB (1:500 - 1:2000) Usage: Immunohistochemistry: was validated for use in immunohistochemistry on a panel of 21 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) human tissues after heat induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer. After incubation with the primary anti.. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MSTN mstn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MSTN / GDF8 / Myostatin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
