Related Product Information for anti-METRN antibody
Meteorin is a 31kD, secreted protein that is expressed by undifferentiated neural and glial progenitors, and astrocytes. Its name derives from it ability to generate glial cells with long meteor-like tails. Mouse Meteorin is synthesized as a 291aa precursor that contains a 270aa mature region. It contains eight cysteines with no identifiable domains or N-linked glycosylation sites. There is one alternate splice form where the first 164aa of the precursor are deleted and aa165 is changed to a Met, possibly to serve in translation initiation. Mature mouse Meteorin is 82-77aa identical to human and bovine Meteorin, respectively.
Product Categories/Family for anti-METRN antibody
NCBI Description
Meteorin regulates glial cell differentiation and promotes the formation of axonal networks during neurogenesis (Nishino et al., 2004 [PubMed 15085178]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
Uniprot Description
METRN: Involved in both glial cell differentiation and axonal network formation during neurogenesis. Promotes astrocyte differentiation and transforms cerebellar astrocytes into radial glia. Also induces axonal extension in small and intermediate neurons of sensory ganglia by activating nearby satellite glia. Belongs to the meteorin family.
Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16p13.3
Cellular Component: extracellular space
Biological Process: glial cell differentiation; positive regulation of axonogenesis
Product Notes
The METRN metrn (Catalog #
AAA6005356) is an Antibody produced from Rat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Meteorin (Biotin) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. Suitable for use in ELISA. Dilution: ELISA: 0.5-2ug/ml ELISA (capture): 2-8ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the METRN metrn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of
"Meteorin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of
the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always
suggest centrifuging these vials
to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to
opening. Please be advised that
certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an
additional dry ice fee may also be
required.
