Related Product Information for anti-MEF2A antibody
Transcriptional activator which binds specifically to the MEF2 element, 5'-YTA[AT]4TAR-3', found in numerous muscle-specific genes. Also involved in the activation of numerous growth factor- and stress-induced genes. Mediates cellular functions not only in skeletal and cardiac muscle development, but also in neuronal differentiation and survival. Plays diverse roles in the control of cell growth, survival and apoptosis via p38 MAPK signaling in muscle-specific and/or growth factor-related transcription. In cerebellar granule neurons, phosphorylated and sumoylated MEF2A represses transcription of NUR77 promoting synaptic differentiation. Associates with chromatin to the ZNF16 promoter.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a DNA-binding transcription factor that activates many muscle-specific, growth factor-induced, and stress-induced genes. The encoded protein can act as a homodimer or as a heterodimer and is involved in several cellular processes, including muscle development, neuronal differentiation, cell growth control, and apoptosis. Defects in this gene could be a cause of autosomal dominant coronary artery disease 1 with myocardial infarction (ADCAD1). Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Uniprot Description

MEF2A: a myocyte-specific enhancing transcription factor which binds specifically to the MEF2 element present in the regulatory regions of many, if not all, muscle-specific genes. A member of the MADS gene family that also includes several homeotic genes and other transcription factors, all of which share a conserved DNA-binding domain. Five alternatively spliced isoforms have been reported.

Product Notes

The MEF2A mef2a (Catalog #AAA9436309) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MEF2A Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MEF2A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500 IHC: 1:50-1:200 ICC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MEF2A mef2a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MEF2A, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
