Anti-human Hexokinase 2 antibody, clone 1A7, is derived from hybridization of mouse F0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from BALB/c mice immunized with a recombinant human Hexokinase 2 protein.
Biological Significance
Hexokinase is the first enzyme in the glycolytic pathway, catalyzing the transfer of a phosphoryl group from ATP to glucose to form glucose-6-phosphate and ADP. In mammals, four distinct enzymes (type 1 to 4 hexokinases) have been identified. These enzymes are found in most cells, but there is tissue specificity for the particular type of hexokinase. Hexokinase 2 is found in the skeletal muscle and includes hydrophobic N-terminal sequence capable of targeting the hexokinase to mitochondria.

Hexokinase 1 + 2 antibody was raised in mouse using recombinant human Hexokinase 2 (1-917aa) purified from E Coli as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
