Related Product Information for anti-FOSB antibody
The v-Fos oncogene was initially identified as the transforming gene of two independent murine osteosarcoma virus isolates (1,2) and an avian nephroblastoma virus (3). The cellular homolog, c-Fos, encodes a 62kD nuclear phosphoprotein that is rapidly and transiently induced by a variety of agents and functions as a transcriptional regulator for several genes. In contrast to c-Jun proteins, which form homo- and heterodimers, which bind to specific DNA TPA response elements (TREs), c-Fos proteins are only active as heterodimers with members of the Jun gene family (4,5). Murine FosB encodes a nuclear protein of 338 amino acids which has 70% homology with c-Fos, exhibits similar kinetics of expression as c-Fos and forms heterodimers with both c-Jun and Jun B which bind to TRE DNA response elements (6). Functional homologs of c-Fos and FosB include Fra-1 and Fra-2 genes (7).

NCBI Description

The Fos gene family consists of 4 members: FOS, FOSB, FOSL1, and FOSL2. These genes encode leucine zipper proteins that can dimerize with proteins of the JUN family, thereby forming the transcription factor complex AP-1. As such, the FOS proteins have been implicated as regulators of cell proliferation, differentiation, and transformation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

FosB: FosB interacts with Jun proteins enhancing their DNA binding activity. Heterodimer. Belongs to the bZIP family. Fos subfamily.

Protein type: Transcription factor; DNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.32

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: DNA binding; sequence-specific DNA binding; double-stranded DNA binding; transcription factor activity; transcription factor binding

Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; response to drug; response to cAMP; response to mechanical stimulus; response to morphine; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; female pregnancy; response to progesterone stimulus; cellular response to hormone stimulus; response to corticosterone stimulus

Product Notes

The FOSB fosb (Catalog #AAA600155) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The FosB reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's FosB can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 2ug/ml; Band at 46kD. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FOSB fosb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FosB, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
