Related Product Information for anti-FOSB antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Protein fosB(FOSB) detection. Tested with WB in Human, Mouse, Rat.
Background: FOSB, FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog B, is a protein that, in humans, is encoded by the FOSB gene. FOSB is a member of Fos gene family which consists of 4 members: FOS, FOSB, FOSL1, and FOSL2. The FOS proteins have been implicated as regulators of cell proliferation, differentiation, and transformation. The FOSB gene is mapped to 19q13.32. Delta FOSB is a truncated splice variant of FOSB. Delta FosB has been implicated in the development of drug addiction and control of the reward system in the brain, and is linked to changes in a number of other gene products such as CREB and sirtuins. Delta FosB also regulates the commitment of mesenchymal precursor cells to the adipocyte or osteoblast lineage.

NCBI Description

The Fos gene family consists of 4 members: FOS, FOSB, FOSL1, and FOSL2. These genes encode leucine zipper proteins that can dimerize with proteins of the JUN family, thereby forming the transcription factor complex AP-1. As such, the FOS proteins have been implicated as regulators of cell proliferation, differentiation, and transformation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

FosB: FosB interacts with Jun proteins enhancing their DNA binding activity. Heterodimer. Belongs to the bZIP family. Fos subfamily.

Protein type: Transcription factor; DNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.32

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: DNA binding; sequence-specific DNA binding; double-stranded DNA binding; transcription factor activity; transcription factor binding

Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; response to drug; response to cAMP; response to mechanical stimulus; response to morphine; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; female pregnancy; response to progesterone stimulus; response to corticosterone stimulus; cellular response to hormone stimulus

Product Notes

The FOSB fosb (Catalog #AAA175378) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Fos B antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Fos B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FOSB fosb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fos B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
