Related Product Information for anti-CHGA antibody
Chromogranin A is a member of the granin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. It is located in secretory vesicles of neurons and endocrine cells. Chromogranin A is the precursor to several functional peptides including vasostatin, pancreastatin, catestatin and parastatin. These peptides negatively modulate the neuroendocrine function of the releasing cell (autocrine) or nearby cells (paracrine). CgA is one of the most used tumor markers in NET's (neuroendocrine tumors), and elevated CgA concentrations have been demonstrated in serum or plasma of patients with different types of these tumors. However, CgA is not a tumor-specific antigen for NETs, and an abnormal concentration has been described in some non-malignant diseases such as renal failure, heart failure, proton pump inhibition, gastritis, hypertension, or patients with liver diseases.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. It is found in secretory vesicles of neurons and endocrine cells. This gene product is a precursor to three biologically active peptides; vasostatin, pancreastatin, and parastatin. These peptides act as autocrine or paracrine negative modulators of the neuroendocrine system. Two other peptides, catestatin and chromofungin, have antimicrobial activity and antifungal activity, respectively. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2014]

Uniprot Description

CHGA: a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. It is found in secretory vesicles of neurons and endocrine cells and is a precursor to multiple biologically active peptides including vasostatin, pancreastatin, and chromostatin. Binds calcium with a low-affinity. Vasostatin negatively regulates angiogenesis and has antibacterial activity against some Gram-positive bacteria. Pancreastatin inhibits glucose induced insulin release from the pancreas. Chromostatin inhibits catecholamine release from chromaffin cells.

Product Notes

The CHGA chga (Catalog #AAA1491959) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse Anti-human chromogranin A monoclonal Antibody reacts with Human. Other species are not tested. Please decide the specificity by homology and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's chromogranin A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CHGA chga for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "chromogranin A, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
