Related Product Information for anti-NPPB antibody
Mouse anti Human BNP Prohormone (N-Terminal) antibody, clone 18H5 detects the amino-terminal fragment of pro-brain natriuretic peptide (amino acids 13-20), also known as NT-proBNP, a cleavage product during the proteolytic activation of BNP. NT-proBNP is a secreted protein which is a member of the natriuretic peptide family, which is predominantly secreted from the cardiac ventricles in response to volume and pressure overload. NT-proBNP is more stable than BNP in serum, and has become a useful biomarker of heart failure.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the natriuretic peptide family and encodes a secreted protein which functions as a cardiac hormone. The protein undergoes two cleavage events, one within the cell and a second after secretion into the blood. The protein's biological actions include natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, inhibition of renin and aldosterone secretion, and a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis. A high concentration of this protein in the bloodstream is indicative of heart failure. The protein also acts as an antimicrobial peptide with antibacterial and antifungal activity. Mutations in this gene have been associated with postmenopausal osteoporosis. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]

Uniprot Description

NPPB: Cardiac hormone which may function as a paracrine antifibrotic factor in the heart. Also plays a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis through natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and inhibition of renin and aldosterone secretion. Specifically binds and stimulates the cGMP production of the NPR1 receptor. Binds the clearance receptor NPR3. Belongs to the natriuretic peptide family.

Product Notes

The NPPB nppb (Catalog #AAA214420) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's BNP PROHORMONE can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunoassay (IY), Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 9kDa when using recombinant NT-proBNP. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NPPB nppb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BNP PROHORMONE, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
