Related Product Information for NT-proBNP elisa kit
Intended Uses: This ELISA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of Canine NT-ProBNP concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses the Sandwich-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Canine NT-ProBNP. Standards or samples are added to the micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Canine NT-ProBNP and Avidin- Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added successively to each micro plate well and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Canine NT-ProBNP, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Canine NT-ProBNP. You can calculate the concentration of Canine NT-ProBNP in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the natriuretic peptide family and encodes a secreted protein which functions as a cardiac hormone. The protein undergoes two cleavage events, one within the cell and a second after secretion into the blood. The protein's biological actions include natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, inhibition of renin and aldosterone secretion, and a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis. A high concentration of this protein in the bloodstream is indicative of heart failure. The protein also acts as an antimicrobial peptide with antibacterial and antifungal activity. Mutations in this gene have been associated with postmenopausal osteoporosis. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]

Uniprot Description

NPPB: Cardiac hormone which may function as a paracrine antifibrotic factor in the heart. Also plays a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis through natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and inhibition of renin and aldosterone secretion. Specifically binds and stimulates the cGMP production of the NPR1 receptor. Binds the clearance receptor NPR3. Belongs to the natriuretic peptide family.

Protein type: Secreted; Hormone; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p36.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space; protein complex; extracellular region

Molecular Function: diuretic hormone activity; hormone activity; receptor binding

Biological Process: cGMP biosynthetic process; negative regulation of angiogenesis; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; regulation of vasodilation; regulation of blood pressure; receptor guanylyl cyclase signaling pathway; negative regulation of cell growth; regulation of vascular permeability; body fluid secretion; regulation of blood vessel size

Product Notes

The Canine NT-proBNP nppb (Catalog #AAA2515889) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2515889 ELISA Kit recognizes Canine NT-proBNP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NT-ProBNP, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
