NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein belonging to the 14-3-3 family of proteins, members of which mediate signal transduction by binding to phosphoserine-containing proteins. This highly conserved protein family is found in both plants and mammals. The encoded protein has been shown to interact with RAF1 and CDC25 phosphatases, suggesting that it may play a role in linking mitogenic signaling and the cell cycle machinery. Two transcript variants, which encode the same protein, have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Adapter protein implicated in the regulation of a large spectrum of both general and specialized signaling pathways. Binds to a large number of partners, usually by recognition of a phosphoserine or phosphothreonine motif. Binding generally results in the modulation of the activity of the binding partner. Negative regulator of osteogenesis. Blocks the nuclear translocation of the phosphorylated form (by AKT1) of SRPK2 and antagonizes its stimulatory effect on cyclin D1 expression resulting in blockage of neuronal apoptosis elicited by SRPK2. Negative regulator of signaling cascades that mediate activation of MAP kinases via AKAP13.

Product Notes

The YWHAB ywhab (Catalog #AAA225457) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The 14-3-3 Beta/Alpha Antibody with Control Lysate reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's 14-3-3 Beta/Alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:1000 Western Blotting: Detects a band of approximately 28 kDa in MCF7 cell lysates. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the YWHAB ywhab for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "14-3-3 Beta/Alpha, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
