NCBI Description

This gene encodes one of six different actin proteins. Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in cell motility, structure, integrity, and intercellular signaling. The encoded protein is a smooth muscle actin that is involved in vascular contractility and blood pressure homeostasis. Mutations in this gene cause a variety of vascular diseases, such as thoracic aortic disease, coronary artery disease, stroke, and Moyamoya disease, as well as multisystemic smooth muscle dysfunction syndrome. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2017]

Uniprot Description

Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility and are ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells.

Product Notes

The ACTA2 acta2 (Catalog #AAA225499) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Actin Alpha 2 Antibody with Control Lysate reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Actin Alpha 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:1000 Western Blotting: Detects a band of approximately 42 kDa in HeLa cell lysate. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ACTA2 acta2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Actin Alpha 2, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
