MAPRE1 is a microtubule associated protein that interacts with the colorectal adenomatous polyposis coli tumor suppressor protein and plays important roles in regulating microtubule dynamics, cell polarity, and chromosome stability. This protein is related to MAPRE1 and likewise associates with the microtubule cytoskeleton. MAPRE3 is expressed predominantly in the central nervous system and preferentially associates with APCL, a homolog of the adenomatous polyposis coli tumor suppressor protein. Recombinant human MAPRE3 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

Also acts as a regulator of minus-end microtubule organization: interacts with the complex formed by AKAP9 and PDE4DIP, leading to recruit CAMSAP2 to the Golgi apparatus, thereby tethering non-centrosomal minus-end microtubules to the Golgi, an important step for polarized cell movement (PubMed:28814570). Promotes elongation of CAMSAP2-decorated microtubule stretches on the minus-end of microtubules (PubMed:28814570). May play a role in cell migration ().
