Related Product Information for IKKbeta recombinant protein
Description: Full-length recombinant human IKKbeta was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag.
Scientific Background: IKKbeta is a serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates the I-kappa-B protein which is an inhibitor of the transcription factor NF-kappa-B complex. Phosphorylation of I-kappa-B protein triggers the degradation of the inhibitor via the ubiquitination pathway, thereby activating NF-kappa-B complex. The activity of IKKbeta is stimulated by TNF and IL1 and IKKbeta forms a heterodimer that interacts with NIK (1). Overexpression of catalytically inactive IKKbeta blocks cytokine-induced NF-kappa-B activation. Aspirin and sodium salicylate can specifically inhibit IKKbeta activity in vitro and in vivo by binding to IKKbeta to reduce ATP binding (2).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene phosphorylates the inhibitor in the inhibitor/NF-kappa-B complex, causing dissociation of the inhibitor and activation of NF-kappa-B. The encoded protein itself is found in a complex of proteins. Several transcript variants, some protein-coding and some not, have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]

Uniprot Description

IKKB: a kinase of the IKK family. Phosphorylates inhibitors of NF-kappa-B thus leading to the dissociation of the inhibitor/NF-kappa-B complex and ultimately the degradation of the inhibitor. Preferentially found as a heterodimer with IKK-alpha but also as an homodimer.

Product Notes

The IKKbeta ikbkb (Catalog #AAA515509) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells using baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is Full length. AAA Biotech's IKKbeta can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Kinase Assay, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IKKbeta ikbkb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IKKbeta, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
