Related Product Information for ICAM3 recombinant protein
Background: The protein ICAM-3, also known as CD50, is a member of the intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) family consisting of three members. It is a DC-SIGN ligand that is constitutively expressed on resting leukocytes and is thus an important molecule for the first immune response. ICAM-3 comprises five immunoglobulin-like domains and binds LFA-1 through its two N-terminal domains. It functions not only as an adhesion molecule but also as a potent signaling molecule. ICAM-3 binds to LFA-1 on antigen-presenting cells (APC) stabilizing the T cell-APC interaction, facilitating signaling through the CD3/TCR complex. However, recent evidence using cultured and transformed T cells suggests ICAM-3 may also function in signaling. It has been reported that the CD50 molecule can play a role in developing functionally mature T lymphocytes and its expression increases during the maturation process of T lymphocytes. Also, the interactions of ICAM-3 and LFA-1 facilitate HIV-1- induced virological synapse formation between T cells. ICAM-3 is associated with an increase in cellular radio-resistance and cancer cell proliferation. It could be considered as a candidate for anti-cancer drug development and as a cancer test marker.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) family. All ICAM proteins are type I transmembrane glycoproteins, contain 2-9 immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains, and bind to the leukocyte adhesion LFA-1 protein. This protein is constitutively and abundantly expressed by all leucocytes and may be the most important ligand for LFA-1 in the initiation of the immune response. It functions not only as an adhesion molecule, but also as a potent signalling molecule. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The ICAM3 icam3 (Catalog #AAA8120198) is a Recombinant Protein produced from HEK293 Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Met1-His48 5. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD50, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
