Related Product Information for S100A1 elisa kit
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human S100 Calcium Binding Protein A1 (also known as S100A1) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human S100A1 antibody. S100A1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human S100A1 Antibody is added and binds to S100A1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated S100A1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human S100A1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100 genes include at least 13 members which are located as a cluster on chromosome 1q21. This protein may function in stimulation of Ca2+-induced Ca2+ release, inhibition of microtubule assembly, and inhibition of protein kinase C-mediated phosphorylation. Reduced expression of this protein has been implicated in cardiomyopathies. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Probably acts as a Ca2+ signal transducer (PubMed:22399290). In response to an increase in intracellular Ca2+ levels, binds calcium which triggers a conformational change (PubMed:23351007). This conformational change allows interaction of S1001A with specific target proteins, such as TPR-containing proteins, and the modulation of their activity (PubMed:22399290).

Product Notes

The Human S100A1 s100a1 (Catalog #AAA1600007) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA1600007 ELISA Kit recognizes Human S100A1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "S100 Calcium Binding Protein A1 (S100A1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
