Preparation and Storage
The stability of kit is determined by the loss rate of activity. The loss rate of this kit is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
To minimize extra influence on the performance, operation procedures and lab conditions, especially room temperature, air humidity, incubator temperature should be strictly controlled. It is also strongly suggested that the whole assay is performed by the same operator from the beginning to the end.

Related Product Information for NPY elisa kit
This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific to Neuropeptide Y (NPY) has been pre-coated onto a microplate. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between biotin labeled Neuropeptide Y (NPY) and unlabeled Neuropeptide Y (NPY) (Standards or samples) with the pre-coated antibody specific to Neuropeptide Y (NPY). After incubation the unbound conjugate is washed off. Next, avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. The amount of bound HRP conjugate is reverse proportional to the concentration of Neuropeptide Y (NPY) in the sample. After addition of the substrate solution, the intensity of color developed is reverse proportional to the concentration of Neuropeptide Y (NPY) in the sample.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a neuropeptide that is widely expressed in the central nervous system and influences many physiological processes, including cortical excitability, stress response, food intake, circadian rhythms, and cardiovascular function. The neuropeptide functions through G protein-coupled receptors to inhibit adenylyl cyclase, activate mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), regulate intracellular calcium levels, and activate potassium channels. A polymorphism in this gene resulting in a change of leucine 7 to proline in the signal peptide is associated with elevated cholesterol levels, higher alcohol consumption, and may be a risk factor for various metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. The protein also exhibits antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]

Uniprot Description

NPY is implicated in the control of feeding and in secretion of gonadotrophin-release hormone.

Product Notes

The Human NPY npy (Catalog #AAA2700376) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2700376 ELISA Kit recognizes Human NPY. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Neuropeptide Y (NPY), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
