Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for LGALS1 elisa kit
Description: This Human Galectin-1 (LGALS1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate LGALS1 in samples. An antibody specific for LGALS1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any LGALS1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for LGALS1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LGALS1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: Galectin-1 is one of the most important lectins to date participating in the malignant tumor development. With more and more data available on its expression in tumors it is already clear that this lectin is an important target for cancer and treatment. Its first involvement in cancer was associated with cell adhesion. Later on the lectin was shown to induce apoptosis of activated T-cells, and experiments have confirmed that cancer cells express galectin-1 also to protect themselves from immune response. Latest finding is a participation of galectin-1 in tumor angiogenesis as an angiogenic factor. In most of the cases described, galectin-0 is up-regulated in tumors in comparison to normal tissue. Moreover, the presence of the lectin is associated with metastases and poor prognosis of disease outcome.

NCBI Description

The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. This gene product may act as an autocrine negative growth factor that regulates cell proliferation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Galectin-1: May regulate apoptosis, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Binds beta-galactoside and a wide array of complex carbohydrates. Inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase. Homodimer. Binds LGALS3BP. Interacts with CD2, CD3, CD4, CD7, CD43 and CD45. Interacts with laminin (via poly-N- acetyllactosamine). Expressed in placenta, maternal decidua and fetal membranes. Within placenta, expressed in trophoblasts, stromal cells, villous endothelium, syncytiotrophoblast apical membrane and villous stroma. Within fetal membranes, expressed in amnion, chorioamniotic mesenchyma and chorion. Expressed in cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscle, neurons, thymus, kidney and hematopoietic cells.

Product Notes

The Human LGALS1 lgals1 (Catalog #AAA9715489) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9715489 ELISA Kit recognizes Human LGALS1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Galectin-1 (LGALS1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
