Principle of the Assay: The MyBioSource' Human FGF23 ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human FGF23 in Cell Culture Supernatants, Serum, Plasma. This assay employs an antibody specific for Human FGF23 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and FGF23 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human FGF23 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of FGF23 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Background/Introduction: FGF23, regulator of phosphate homeostasis. Inhibits renal tubular phosphate transport by reducing SLC34A1 levels. Upregulates EGR1 expression in the presence of KL. Acts directly on the parathyroid to decrease PTH secretion. Regulator of vitamin-D metabolism. Negatively regulates osteoblast differentiation and matrix mineralization. Defects in FGF23 are the cause of autosomal dominant hypophosphataemic rickets (ADHR). ADHR is characterized by low serum phosphorus concentrations, rickets, osteomalacia, leg deformities, short stature, bone pain and dental abscesses. Defects in FGF23 are a cause of hyperphosphatemic familial tumoral calcinosis (HFTC). HFTC is a severe autosomal recessive metabolic disorder that manifests with hyperphosphatemia and massive calcium deposits in the skin and subcutaneous tissues. Belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the fibroblast growth factor family of proteins, which possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities and are involved in a variety of biological processes. The product of this gene regulates phosphate homeostasis and transport in the kidney. The full-length, functional protein may be deactivated via cleavage into N-terminal and C-terminal chains. Mutation of this cleavage site causes autosomal dominant hypophosphatemic rickets (ADHR). Mutations in this gene are also associated with hyperphosphatemic familial tumoral calcinosis (HFTC). Product Notes

The Human FGF23 fgf23 (Catalog #AAA824695) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA824695 ELISA Kit recognizes Human FGF23. AAA Biotech's FGF23 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Sandwich ELISA (SE). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FGF23 fgf23 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FGF23, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
