Related Product Information for METAP1D active protein
Methionine Aminopeptidase 1D (MAP1D) is a member of the Methionine Aminopeptidase family (MetAPs) (1). MetAPs catalyze the removal of the initiator methionine residue from nascent peptides (2) and are essential for cell growth (3). MAP1D is localized in mitochondria (4) and is overexpressed in colon cancer cell lines and colon tumors (1). The N-terminal leader peptide (residue 1-43) of MAP1D has been shown to be responsible for targeting to mitochondria (4).

NCBI Description

The N-terminal methionine excision pathway is an essential process in which the N-terminal methionine is removed from many proteins, thus facilitating subsequent protein modification. In mitochondria, enzymes that catalyze this reaction are celled methionine aminopeptidases (MetAps, or MAPs; EC 3.4.11.18) (Serero et al., 2003 [PubMed 14532271]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

MAP1D: Removes the N-terminal methionine from nascent proteins. May play a role in colon tumorigenesis. Belongs to the peptidase M24A family.

Protein type: Protease; Mitochondrial; EC 3.4.11.18

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q31.1

Cellular Component: mitochondrion

Molecular Function: metalloexopeptidase activity; metal ion binding; aminopeptidase activity

Biological Process: peptidyl-methionine modification; proteolysis; N-terminal protein amino acid modification

Product Notes

The METAP1D metap1d (Catalog #AAA637147) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Methionine Aminopeptidase 1D, Recombinant, Human (MetAP-1D, MAP1D) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Methionine Aminopeptidase 1D can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: Predicts 34kD and migrates as a 38kD band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the METAP1D metap1d for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Methionine Aminopeptidase 1D, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
