Related Product Information for COVID-19 active protein
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (SARS-CoV), Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV), and the recently identified novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) belong to the Coronaviridae family, genus Betacoronavirus, that has been related to important epidemiological outbreaks. SARS-CoV emerged in 2003 as a significant threat to human health. SARS-CoV has four structural proteins, known as the S (spike), E (envelope), M (membrane), and N (nucleocapsid) proteins. The spike protein, responsible for allowing the virus to attach to and fuse with the membrane of a host cell and is a large type I transmembrane protein containing two subunits, S1 and S2. S1 mainly contains a receptor binding domain (RBD), which is responsible for recognizing the cell surface receptor. S2 contains basic elements needed for the membrane fusion. The S protein plays key parts in the induction of neutralizing-antibody and T-cell responses, as well as protective immunity. It attaches the virion to the cell membrane by interacting with host receptor, initiating the infection. A metallopeptidase, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE-2), has been identified as a functional receptor for SARS-CoV through interaction with a receptor binding domain (RBD) located at the C-terminus of S1 subunit. Recombinant SARS-CoV spike RBD protein fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in HEK293 cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

Uniprot Description

S1 attaches the virion to the cell membrane by interacting with human ACE2 and CLEC4M/DC-SIGNR, initiating the infection. Binding to the receptor and internalization of the virus into the endosomes of the host cell probably induces conformational changes in the S glycoprotein. Proteolysis by cathepsin CTSL may unmask the fusion peptide of S2 and activate membranes fusion within endosomes.

Product Notes

The COVID-19 s (Catalog #AAA201279) is an Active Protein produced from HEK293 and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 306-515aa. AAA Biotech's COVID 19 Spike RBD Coronavirus can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE, Bioactivity. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the COVID-19 s for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: RVVP SG DVVRFPNITN LCPFGEVFNA TKFPSVYAWE RKKISNCVAD YSVLYNSTFF STFKCYGVSA TKLNDLCFSN VYADSFVVKG DDVRQIAPGQ TGVIADYNYK LPDDFMGCVL AWNTRNIDAT STGNYNYKYR YLRHGKLRPF ERDISNVPFS PDGKPCTPPA LNCYWPLNDY GFYTTTGIGY QPYRVVVLSF ELLNAPATVC GPKL. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "COVID 19 Spike RBD Coronavirus, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
