Principle of the Assay||FBG ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-FBG antibody and an FBG-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with FBG-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the FBG concentration since FBG from samples and FBG-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-FBG antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by FBG from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind FBG-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The FBG concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

Together with fibrinogen alpha (FGA) and fibrinogen beta (FGB), polymerizes to form an insoluble fibrin matrix. Has a major function in hemostasis as one of the primary components of blood clots. In addition, functions during the early stages of wound repair to stabilize the lesion and guide cell migration during re-epithelialization. Was originally thought to be essential for platelet aggregation, based on in vitro studies using anticoagulated blood. However, subsequent studies have shown that it is not absolutely required for thrombus formation in vivo. Enhances expression of SELP in activated platelets via an ITGB3-dependent pathway. Maternal fibrinogen is essential for successful pregnancy. Fibrin deposition is also associated with infection, where it protects against IFNG-mediated hemorrhage. May also facilitate the antibacterial immune response via both innate and T-cell mediated pathways.
