Related Product Information for FABP3 elisa kit
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for h-FABP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any h-FABP present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for h-FABP is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of h-FABP bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The intracellular fatty acid-binding proteins (FABPs) belongs to a multigene family. FABPs are divided into at least three distinct types, namely the hepatic-, intestinal- and cardiac-type. They form 14-15 kDa proteins and are thought to participate in the uptake, intracellular metabolism and/or transport of long-chain fatty acids. They may also be responsible in the modulation of cell growth and proliferation. Fatty acid-binding protein 3 gene contains four exons and its function is to arrest growth of mammary epithelial cells. This gene is a candidate tumor suppressor gene for human breast cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: FABP are thought to play a role in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and their acyl-CoA esters.

Product Notes

The Human FABP3 fabp3 (Catalog #AAA701517) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA701517 ELISA Kit recognizes Human FABP3. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "fatty acid binding protein 3, muscle and heart (mammary-derived growth inhibitor), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
