Related Product Information for ENPP1 elisa kit
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for ENPP1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any ENPP1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ENPP1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ENPP1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the nucleoside pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase family of enzymes that catalyzes the hydrolysis of pyrophosphate and phosphodiester bonds in nucleotide triphosphates and oligonucleotides, respectively, to generate nucleoside 5'-monophosphates. The encoded protein is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that negatively regulates bone mineralization. Mice harboring a nonsense mutation in this gene, termed tiptoe walking (ttw), exhibit ectopic ossification of the spinal ligaments. The encoded protein binds to the insulin receptor, inhibits downstream signaling events and induces insulin resistance and glucose tolerance. This gene is located adjacent to a paralog on chromosome 10. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2015]

Uniprot Description

ENPP1: Involved primarily in ATP hydrolysis at the plasma membrane. Plays a role in regulating pyrophosphate levels, and functions in bone mineralization and soft tissue calcification. In vitro, has a broad specificity, hydrolyzing other nucleoside 5' triphosphates such as GTP, CTP, TTP and UTP to their corresponding monophosphates with release of pyrophosphate and diadenosine polyphosphates, and also 3',5'-cAMP to AMP. May also be involved in the regulation of the availability of nucleotide sugars in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi, and the regulation of purinergic signaling. Appears to modulate insulin sensitivity. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Interacts with INSR. Expressed in plasma cells and also in a number of non-lymphoid tissues, including the distal convoluted tubule of the kidney, chondrocytes and epididymis. At low concentrations of ATP, a phosphorylated intermediate is formed which inhibits further hydrolysis. Belongs to the nucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase family.

Product Notes

The Mouse ENPP1 enpp1 (Catalog #AAA926662) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA926662 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse ENPP1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
