Principle of the Assay: This kit is based on a sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. An analyte-specific polyclonal antibody is pre-coated onto 96-wett plates. The biotin conjugated second antibody is used as detection antibody. During the first incubation the standards and samples react with the analyte-specific pre-coated antibody. In a second incubation the biotin conjugated detection antibody completes the sandwich. After washing wi th wash buffer the TMB substrate is added to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changes into yellow after add ing acidic stop solution. The optical density of the yellow color is proportional to the analyte captured in plate. Read the 0.0,. absorbance at 450nm in a microtiterplale reader, and catcutate the concentration of the analyte in the sample by taking into consideration the dilution factor of the sample!!Background/Introduction: Interleukin-17(IL-17 or IL-17A) originally identified as a transcript from a rodent T-cell hybridoma by Rouvier et ai, in 1993. The IL-7 gene maps to human chromosome 2q31. It is the founding member of a group of cytokines called the IL-17 family, and secreted primarily by activated T cells. IL-17 shows high homology to virallL-17 encoded by an open reading frame of the T-Iymphotropic rhadinovirus Herpesvirus saimiri. All members of the IL-17 family have a similar protein structure, with four highly conserved cysteine residues critical to their 3-dimensional shape, yet they have no sequence similarity to any other known cytokines. The most notable role of IL-17 is it involvement in inducing and mediating proinflammatory responses. IL-17F has been well characterized both in vitro and in vivo, and has been shown to have a pro-inflammatory role in asthma.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a cell surface glycoprotein which is typically expressed on endothelial cells and cells of the immune system. It binds to integrins of type CD11a / CD18, or CD11b / CD18 and is also exploited by Rhinovirus as a receptor. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
ICAM1: a type I membrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily. Is a ligand for the leukocyte adhesion LFA-1 protein (Integrin alpha-L/beta-2) and a Rhinovirus receptor. Typically expressed on endothelial cells and cells of the immune system. ICAM1 binds to integrins of type CD11a / CD18, or CD11b / CD18. Its expression is activated by p53 in an NF-kappaB-independent manner. Induced by TNFalpha in a process that involves IKKbeta.

Product Notes
The ICAM-1 / CD54 icam1 (Catalog #AAA495229) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ICAM-1 / CD54, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
