The recombinant Rat EGF consists of 53 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 6.3kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the Rat EGF protein is approximately 6.3kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.
Usage Notes
Always centrifuge tubes before opening. It is recommended to centrifuge at 12,000 rpm for 1 minute. Then reconstitute the lyophilized Rat EGF protein using the buffer we provided not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized Rat EGF protein product should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C for est. 12 months. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and below -18 degree C for est. 3 months. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (example 0.1% HSA or BSA), aliquot and store below -18 degree C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Related Product Information for EGF recombinant protein
Description: Recombinant Rat EGF protein expressed in E Coli.
Background: EGF is a single-pass type I membrane protein, containing 8 LDL-receptor class B repeats and 9 EGF-like domains. EGF is a growth factor that stimulates the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues in vivo and in vitro and of some fibroblasts in cell culture. It results in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and survival.Additionally, EGF has been shown to inhibit gastric secretion, and to be involved in wound healing. EGF signals through a receptor known as c-erbB, which is a class I tyrosine kinase receptor. This receptor also binds with TGF-alpha and VGF (vaccinia virus growth factor).

NCBI Description

binds the epidermal growth factor receptor; may play a role in MAP kinase mediated signaling pathways [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

EGF: EGF stimulates the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues in vivo and in vitro and of some fibroblasts in cell culture. Magnesiotropic hormone that stimulates magnesium reabsorption in the renal distal convoluted tubule via engagement of EGFR and activation of the magnesium channel TRPM6. Defects in EGF are the cause of hypomagnesemia type 4 (HOMG4); also known as renal hypomagnesemia normocalciuric. HOMG4 is a disorder characterized by massive renal hypomagnesemia and normal levels of serum calcium and calcium excretion. Clinical features include seizures, mild-to mederate psychomotor retardation, and brisk tendon reflexes. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The EGF egf (Catalog #AAA9719015) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Asn974-Arg 1026. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EGF, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
