Related Product Information for EGF active protein
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is a potent growth factor that stimulates the proliferation of various epidermal and epithelial cells. Additionally, EGF has been shown to inhibit gastric secretion, and to be involved in wound healing. EGF signals through a receptor known as c-erbB, which is a class I tyrosine kinase receptor. This receptor also binds with TGF-alpha and VGF (vaccinia virus growth factor). Recombinant murine EGF is a 6.0 kDa globular protein containing 53 amino acid residues, including 3 intramolecular disulfide-bonds.

Uniprot Description

Function: EGF stimulates the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues in vivo and in vitro and of some fibroblasts in cell culture. Magnesiotropic hormone that stimulates magnesium reabsorption in the renal distal convoluted tubule via engagement of EGFR and activation of the magnesium channel TRPM6

By similarity.

Subunit structure: Interacts with EGFR and promotes EGFR dimerization. Interacts with RHBDF1; may retain EGF in the endoplasmic reticulum and regulates its degradation through the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD). Interacts with RHBDF2. Ref.7

Subcellular location: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.

Sequence similarities: Contains 9 EGF-like domains.Contains 8 LDL-receptor class B repeats.

Sequence caution: The sequence CAA24115.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Frameshift at positions 1134 and 1168.

Product Notes

The EGF egf (Catalog #AAA691993) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse EGF reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: NSYPGCPSSY DGYCLNGGVC MHIESLDSYT CNCVIGYSGD RCQTRD LRWW ELR. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EGF, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
