Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
E. coli
Purity/Purification
>97%, as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Form/Format
Recombinant Interferon alpha 2a was lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered PBS solution pH 7.0.
Host Note
Optimized DNA sequence encoding Human Interferon-alpha concensus mature chain was expressed in Escherichia Coli.
Molecular Weight Note
Recombinant Interferon alpha concensus is a disulfide-linked monomeric protein consisting of 166 amino acid residue subunits, and migrates as an approximately 19 kDa protein under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.
Biological Activity
The activity was determined by a viral resistance assay of Human WISH cells, and was found to be in the range of 1x108 IU/mg.
Endotoxin
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20°C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2°-8°C for one month, or at -20°C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the alpha interferon gene cluster on chromosome 9. The encoded protein is a cytokine produced in response to viral infection. Use of the recombinant form of this protein has been shown to be effective in reducing the symptoms and duration of the common cold. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

Product Notes

The IFN-a con ifna2 (Catalog #AAA553232) is an Active Protein produced from E. coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Interferon alphacon-1, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
