Related Product Information for NAP-2 active protein
NAP-2 is a CXC chemokine that can signal through the CXCR1 and CXCR2 receptors. It is produced in leukocytes by enzymatic processing of a precursor called platelet basic protein (PBP). NAP-2 chemoattracts and activates neutrophils. Recombinant human NAP-2 protein is a 7.6 kDa protein containing 70 amino acid residues including the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in CXC chemokines, and also including the "ELR " motif common to CXC chemokines that bind to CXCR1 and CXCR2.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a platelet-derived growth factor that belongs to the CXC chemokine family. This growth factor is a potent chemoattractant and activator of neutrophils. It has been shown to stimulate various cellular processes including DNA synthesis, mitosis, glycolysis, intracellular cAMP accumulation, prostaglandin E2 secretion, and synthesis of hyaluronic acid and sulfated glycosaminoglycan. It also stimulates the formation and secretion of plasminogen activator by synovial cells. The protein also is an antimicrobial protein with bactericidal and antifungal activity. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]

Uniprot Description

PPBP: LA-PF4 stimulates DNA synthesis, mitosis, glycolysis, intracellular cAMP accumulation, prostaglandin E2 secretion, and synthesis of hyaluronic acid and sulfated glycosaminoglycan. It also stimulates the formation and secretion of plasminogen activator by human synovial cells. NAP-2 is a ligand for CXCR1 and CXCR2, and NAP-2, NAP-2(73), NAP-2(74), NAP-2(1-66), and most potent NAP-2(1-63) are chemoattractants and activators for neutrophils. TC-1 and TC-2 are antibacterial proteins, in vitro released from activated platelet alpha-granules. CTAP-III(1-81) is more potent than CTAP-III desensitize chemokine-induced neutrophil activation. Belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family.

Product Notes

The NAP-2 ppbp (Catalog #AAA696004) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human NAP-2 (CXCL7) reacts with Species Reactivity: Human Cross Reactivity: Bacteria, Hamster and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: AELRCMCIK TTSGIHPKN IQSLEVIGK GTHCNQVEV IATLKDGRK ICLDPDAPR IKKIVQKKL AGDESAD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NAP-2, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
