Related Product Information for CATK active protein
Background: Cathepsin K, a member of the papain cysteine proteinase family, is the predominant proteinase responsible for the resorption of the bone matrix. Cathepsin cleaves proteins such as collagen type I, collagen type II and osteonectin, thereby playing a role in bone remodeling and resorption in osteoporosis, osteolytic bone metastasis and rheumatoid arthritis (Bromme and Okamoto, 1995; Drake, F. et al 1996; Bossard et al, 1996). Cathepsin K is produced as an inactive proenzyme (35.4 kDa) that is converted to its mature active form (23.5 kDa) by proteolytic cleavage of its 99-amino-acid propeptide domain. The in-vitro processing of procathepsin K to mature cathepsin K is autocatalytic.

Product Notes

The CATK ctsh (Catalog #AAA845004) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Procathepsin K can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE; HPLC. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CATK ctsh for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Procathepsin K, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
