Reconstitution
Reconstitute in sterile 20mM Tris, pH 8.0 at 100ug/mL (containing at least 0.1% human or bovine serum albumin). Further dilutions should be made in aqueous buffers supplemented with carrier protein, such as 0.1-1.0% BSA.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at-70 degree C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2-8 degree C for one month, or at-20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Related Product Information for CT-1 recombinant protein
Cardiotrophin-1 is a pleiotrophic cytokine and is a member of the IL-6 cytokine family that also includes IL6, IL11, LIF, OSM, CLC and IL31.Full length human CT-1 shares a 79% amino acid sequence identity with murinic CT-1 and both lack a canonical signal sequence. Cardiotrophin-1 interacts with the leukemia inhibitory factor receptor (LIFR) heterodimer and the glycoprotein 130 subunit (gp130) and has the ability to induce cardiac myocyte hypertrophy. It is highly expressed in various skeletal muscles and cardiac tissue, as well as the colon, ovary and prostate, liver, and pancreas, while lower expression levels are found in the lungs, kidney, pancreas, testis, and small intestine.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a secreted cytokine that induces cardiac myocyte hypertrophy in vitro. It has been shown to bind and activate the ILST/gp130 receoptor. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2008]

Uniprot Description

CTF1: Induces cardiac myocyte hypertrophy in vitro. Binds to and activates the ILST/gp130 receptor. Belongs to the IL-6 superfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CT-1 ctf1 (Catalog #AAA4159846) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
