For Research Use Only!
Reactivity
Bovine
Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of CRF. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between CRF and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between CRF and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.
Samples
Serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate
Assay Type
Quantitative Competitive
Sensitivity
1.0 ng/mL
Preparation and Storage
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C.

Intended Uses: This CRF ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Bovine CRF. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or test applications!

Principle of the Assay: CRF ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-CRF antibody and an CRF-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with CRF-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the CRF concentration since CRF from samples and CRF-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-CRF antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by CRF from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind CRF-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The CRF concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

Corticotropin-releasing hormone is secreted by the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus in response to stress. Marked reduction in this protein has been observed in association with Alzheimer disease and autosomal recessive hypothalamic corticotropin deficiency has multiple and potentially fatal metabolic consequences including hypoglycemia and hepatitis. In addition to production in the hypothalamus, this protein is also synthesized in peripheral tissues, such as T lymphocytes and is highly expressed in the placenta. In the placenta it is a marker that determines the length of gestation and the timing of parturition and delivery. A rapid increase in circulating levels of the hormone occurs at the onset of parturition, suggesting that, in addition to its metabolic functions, this protein may act as a trigger for parturition. Product Notes

The Bovine CRF crh (Catalog #AAA745697) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA745697 ELISA Kit recognizes Bovine CRF. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Corticotropin Releasing Factor, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
