Principle of the Assay: Pig Pig porcine Cadherin-2/N-Cadherin ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme- linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from mouse specific for Pig porcine Cadherin-2/N-Cadherin has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards(Expression system for standard: NSO; Immunogen sequence: D160-A724) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for Pig porcine Cadherin-2/N-Cadherin is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the Pig Pig porcine Cadherin-2/N-Cadherin amount of sample captured in plate.

This gene encodes a classical cadherin and member of the cadherin superfamily. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes a preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate a calcium-dependent cell adhesion molecule and glycoprotein. Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. Acts as a regulator of neural stem cells quiescence by mediating anchorage of neural stem cells to ependymocytes in the adult subependymal zone: upon cleavage by MMP24, CDH2-mediated anchorage is affected, leading to modulate neural stem cell quiescence. CDH2 may be involved in neuronal recognition mechanism. In hippocampal neurons, may regulate dendritic spine density ().
