Host Note
Optimized DNA sequence encoding Mouse CD4 extracellular domain was expressed in HEK293 cells.
Endotoxin
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers
Molecular Weight Note
Mouse soluble CD4 is generated by the proteolytic removal of the extracellular domain
and propeptide, the molecule has a calculated molecular mass of approximately 40 kDa. Recombinant mouse CD4 is a disulfide-linked monomer protein consisting of 380 amino acid residue subunits, and migrates due to glycosylation as an approximately 46 kDa protein under non-reducing and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20 degree C.
Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for CD4 recombinant protein
CD4 is a 55 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. In humans CD4 is expressed of peripheral T-cells, thymocytes, on macrophages and granulocytes. CD4 acts as a cellular adhesion molecule binding MHC class 2 molecules. It stabilizes the interaction of MHC class 2 restricted T- cells and antigen-presenting cells expressing an antigen in combination with a MHC class 2 molecule. Interactions of CD4 with MHC class 2 molecules are crucial during thymic development and subsequently for the function of single- positive CD4 (+), CD8 (-) T- lymphocytes. CD4 functions as an effector molecule for intracellular signal transduction. In T- lymphocytes CD4 has been found to be associated with tyrosine kinase lck which phosphorylates a number of other cell surface proteins and is involved probably in transducing the intracellular signal when these proteins are bound to their receptors.

Uniprot Description

CD4: Accessory protein for MHC class-II antigen/T-cell receptor interaction. May regulate T-cell activation. Induces the aggregation of lipid rafts. Associates with LCK. Binds to HIV-1 gp120 and to P4HB/PDI and upon HIV-1 binding to the cell membrane, is part of P4HB/PDI- CD4-CXCR4-gp120 complex. Interacts with HIV-1 Envelope polyprotein gp160 and protein Vpu. Interacts with Human Herpes virus 7 capsid proteins. Interacts with PTK2/FAK1; this interaction requires the presence of HIV-1 gp120.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Soluble CD4, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
