Related Product Information for ATG5 recombinant protein
Autophagy, the process of bulk degradation of cellular proteins through an autophagosomic-lysosomal pathway is important for normal growth control and may be defective in tumor cells. It is involved in the preservation of cellular nutrients under starvation conditions as well as the normal turnover of cytosolic components (1,2). This process is negatively regulated by TOR (Target of rapamycin) through phosphorylation of autophagy protein APG1 (3). ATG5, another member of the autophagy protein family, forms a conjugate with ATG12; this conjugate has a ubiquitin-protein ligase (E3)-like activity for protein lipidation in autophagy (4). This conjugate also associates with innate immune response proteins such as RIG-I and VISA (also known as IPS-1), inhibiting type I interferon production and permitting viral replication in host cells (5).

Uniprot Description

ATG5: Required for autophagy. Conjugates to ATG12 and associates with isolation membrane to form cup-shaped isolation membrane and autophagosome. The conjugate detaches from the membrane immediately before or after autophagosome formation is completed. The ATG5-ATG12 conjugate forms a complex with several units of ATG16. Interacts with TECPR1; the interaction is direct and does not take place when ATG16 is associated with the ATG5- ATG12 conjugate. By apoptotic stimuli. Ubiquitous. The mRNA is present at similar levels in viable and apoptotic cells, whereas the protein is dramatically highly expressed in apoptotic cells. Belongs to the ATG5 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The ATG5 atg5 (Catalog #AAA153315) is a Recombinant Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's ATG5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), MS. This recombinant protein can be used for WB, ELISA, MS and neutralization assays. For research use only. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ATG5 atg5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: aa 1 - 275. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ATG5, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
