For Research Use Only!
Application Notes
GSSG is reduced to GSH using Glutathione Reductase (GR). GSH reacts with 5,5'-dithiobis-bis-(2-nitrobenoicacid) to form 2-nitrobenoicacid which has a characteristic absorption peak at 412nm, the content of total glutathione is determined then. It can test samples of tissues, bacteria, fungus, cells, serums, ect.
Samples
Animal and plant tissues, bacteria, cells, serum
Detection Range
2-200 ug/mL
Sensitivity
2 ug/mL
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C and keep from light immediately upon receipt. Kit has a storage time of est. 12 months from receipt. Refer to list of materials supplied for storage conditions of individual components.

Related Product Information for T-GSH assay kit
Principle of the Assay: Glutathione is a Tripeptide of Glycine, Glutamic acid and Cysteine. In the red blood cell, reduced Glutathione (GSH) is the key to maintain hemoglobin in reduced state and protect cells from Oxidative damage. GSH is the most important antioxidant sulfhydryl compound in cells, which plays an important role in oxidation resistance, protein sulfhydryl protection and amino acid transport across membrane. The ratio between reduced and oxidized Glutathione (GSH/GSSG) is the main indicator of the cell's redox state. Therefore, measuring the content of GSH and GSSG and the ratio of GSH/GSSG in cells can reflect the redox state of cells. CheKine™ Total Glutathione (T-GSH) Colorimetric Assay Kit can detect samples of Animal and Plant Tissues, Bacteria, Cells, Serum, etc. Glutathione reductase (glutathione reductase, GR) is used to reduce GSSG to GSH. GSH can react with 5,5'-Dithiobis-(2-Nitrobenzoic Acid) (5,5'-Dithiobis-2-Nitrobenzoic Acid, DTNB) to form 2-Nitro-5-Diol Benzoic Acid. This substance is yellow and has a maximum light absorption at a wavelength of 412 nm. In this way, the total glutathione content in the sample can be determined.

Product Notes

The T-GSH (Catalog #AAA9719027) is an Assay Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the T-GSH for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Toal Glutathione (T-GSH), Assay Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
