Principle of the Assay: AQP1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-AQP1 antibody and an AQP1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with AQP1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the AQP1 concentration since AQP1 from samples and AQP1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-AQP1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by AQP1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind AQP1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The AQP1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description
integral membrane protein that is a major water transport molecule in the kidney proximal tubule and red blood cells [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
AQP1: Forms a water-specific channel that provides the plasma membranes of red cells and kidney proximal tubules with high permeability to water, thereby permitting water to move in the direction of an osmotic gradient. Belongs to the MIP/aquaporin (TC 1.A.8) family.

Product Notes
The Human AQP 1 aqp1 (Catalog #AAA720780) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA720780 ELISA Kit recognizes Human AQP 1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aquaporin 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
