NCBI Description

The A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are a group of structurally diverse proteins, which have the common function of binding to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA) and confining the holoenzyme to discrete locations within the cell. This gene encodes a member of the AKAP family. The encoded protein is localized to the sperm flagellum and may be involved in the regulation of sperm motility. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

AKAP4: Major structural component of sperm fibrous sheath. Plays a role in sperm motility. Belongs to the AKAP110 family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The AKAP4 akap4 (Catalog #AAA9424155) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is Full Length, 189-854aa. The Recombinant Human A-kinase anchor protein 4 (AKAP4) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "A-kinase anchor protein 4 (AKAP4), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
