Applicable Applications for GM-CSF active protein
ELISA (EIA), Functional Assays (FN), Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes
ELISA: Recombinant human GM-CSF may be used as the standard in ELISA applications with either a purified human GM-CSF antibody or a biotinylated human GM-CSF antibody.
Western Blot: Recombinant human GM-CSF may be used as a positive control for Western Blotting applications with either a purified human GM-CSF antibody or a biotinylated human GM-CSF antibody.
ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 0.2; Maximum Dilution: 0.4ng/well
Functional Assays: Minimum Dilution: 1.0ng/ml
Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 1.5; Maximum Dilution: 3.0ng/lane
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with 0.2ml distilled water. Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. MyBioSource recommends that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution. For extended storage, the addition of 0.1% bovine serum albumin (BSA) is recommended.
Perservative Stabilisers
Activity
The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells is = 0.1 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of = 1 x 107 units/mg.
Target Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Prior to reconstitution store at 4 degree C. Following reconstitution store at -20 degree C. This product should be stored undiluted. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the protein. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 3 months from date of reconstitution.
Related Product Information for GM-CSF active protein
GM-CSF (granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor) is a haematopoietic growth factor which exists in both glycosylated and non-glycosylated biologically active forms, and stimulates the development of granulocytes, macrophages, early megakaryocytes and eosinophil progenitor cells. The ability of recombinant GM-CSF to increase haematopoietic cell recovery has become a focus area in the therapeutic treatment of patients following bone marrow transplantation.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that controls the production, differentiation, and function of granulocytes and macrophages. The active form of the protein is found extracellularly as a homodimer. This gene has been localized to a cluster of related genes at chromosome region 5q31, which is known to be associated with interstitial deletions in the 5q- syndrome and acute myelogenous leukemia. Other genes in the cluster include those encoding interleukins 4, 5, and 13. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The GM-CSF csf2 (Catalog #AAA232471) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's GM-CSF can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Functional Assays (FN), Western Blot (WB). ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 0.2; Maximum Dilution: 0.4ng/well Functional Assays: Minimum Dilution: 1.0ng/ml Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 1.5; Maximum Dilution: 3.0ng/lane. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GM-CSF csf2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GM-CSF, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
