Human Pulmonary Surfactant-Associated Protein D (SP-D) ELISA Kit | SP-D elisa kit
Human Pulmonary Surfactant-Associated Protein D (SP-D) ELISA Kit
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Background: Surfactant protein D (SP-D) belongs to the collectin family. These proteins are oligomeric proteins composed of carbohydrate-recognition domains(CRD)attached to collagenous regions.Collectins are structurally similar to the ficolins although they make use of different CRD structures:C-type lectin domain for the collectins. The lung is the major site of synthesis of SP-D, where the molecules are produced and secreted onto the epithelial surface by alveolar type IIcells and unciliated bronchial epithelial cells. SP-D is also found in different epithelial cells of the gastrointestinal tract and in epithelial cells of various exocrine glands. SP-D is an important factor in the pulmonary anti-microbial defense. The anti-microbial defense mechanisms of SP-D are direct opsonization, neutralization and agglutination.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is part of the innate immune response, protecting the lungs against inhaled microorganisms and chemicals. The encoded protein may also be involved in surfactant metabolism. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2015]
Uniprot Description
SFTPD: Contributes to the lung's defense against inhaled microorganisms. May participate in the extracellular reorganization or turnover of pulmonary surfactant. Binds strongly maltose residues and to a lesser extent other alpha-glucosyl moieties. Belongs to the SFTPD family.

Product Notes
The Human SP-D sftpd (Catalog #AAA9716256) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9716256 ELISA Kit recognizes Human SP-D. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Pulmonary Surfactant-Associated Protein D (SP-D), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
