SPT6: promotes transcription elongation of many genes. A histone H3 chaperone that may alter chromatin structure during transcription. Binds RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) phosphorylated on Ser2 through its primitive SH2 domain, which appears to recognize phosphoserine rather than phosphotyrosine motifs. Associates with the nuclear mRNA export factor, THOC4.
